Liposuction in South Florida
Most of us are familiar with the constant battle to firm and tone certain areas of our bodies. For men, the “love handles” – isolated pockets of fat around the waist and flanks – are often particularly stubborn. For women, fat on the hips and thighs or the tummy can be especially difficult to get rid of, even with rigorous dieting and exercise. If your dedicated efforts to improve your physique just aren’t getting the results you want, liposuction in South Florida may be a good option for you.
At Cooper Plastic Surgery, body contouring is one of our most popular procedure categories. Permanent fat removal through liposuction can give you the shape you’ve always wanted, and with advances in liposuction technology, you can achieve these results more safely, quickly, and comfortably than ever before.

Is Liposuction in South Florida Right for Me?
If you are a healthy individual at a relatively normal weight with areas of fat that do not respond to diet and exercise, liposuction may be a good choice for you. Liposuction permanently removes isolated pockets of fat from areas such as the hips, thighs, buttocks, knees, stomach, flanks and upper arms by suctioning the fat cells out through a small tube called a cannula. Dr. Cooper combines his technical skill with an artistic eye to sculpt the treated area into a sleeker, more attractive contour.
Your South Florida Liposuction Procedure
Liposuction is often performed under general anesthesia for larger cases, but in a number of cases local anesthesia can be used. The time-tested approach to liposuction used at Cooper Plastic Surgery incorporates the tumescent technique, which involves filling the treatment area with an anesthetic solution. This helps to ease discomfort and minimize bruising and blood loss, and also allows for more effective and targeted fat removal.
The procedure begins by making small incisions through which the cannula is inserted. Dr. Cooper gently manipulates the cannula in a sweeping motion to break up and suction away the undesired areas of fat. Once the area has been sculpted to the desired size and contour, the incision sites are closed with sutures. Liposuction can be performed on one or more areas during a surgical procedure, and is easily combined with other plastic surgery procedures including face lift, breast surgery, and tummy tuck surgery in South Florida.
Recovery and Results
You will be a bit bruised and swollen following surgery, but you should still be able to walk around, which is important to avoid the formation of blood clots. You will be fitted with a snug compression garment that will need to be worn for one week and instructed to take it easy for a few days. Most liposuction patients find that they can resume light activities and work after 2 or 3 days, and larger cases can typically return to work after about a week.
Results will be visible soon after your procedure, but it takes a few weeks for swelling and bruising to diminish completely. At that point, you will be ready to show off your new, slimmer shape. Back to Top
